Emery N. Bates, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Friday, October 6, 2017. Emery was born in Mckee, Kentucky on February 25, 1937 to George Bates and Alpha Smith Bates. He was married to Louvada Owens Bates for 54 years.
Emery is survived by children, Penny Lou Bates, Emery N. (Connie) Bates, Priscilla Bates, and Michele (Kenneth) Carew; sister, Connie Bates; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Emery was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alpha Bates; wife, Louvada Bates; 12 siblings; sons, Johnny Lee Bates and Darius Gene Bates.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM with George Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Flannery Cemetery, Jackson County, KY.
