Erick J. Stitzel

Erick J. Stitzel, age 56 of Somerville passed away at his residence on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. He was born in Hamilton on May 3, 1952 the son of Edwin G. and Patricia (Fea) Stitzel. Erick was a 1970 graduate of Badin High School and was employed in coke plant maintenance at Armco/AK Steel for 36 years, retiring in 2006. He was an active member at St. Mary’s Church in Oxford, where he enjoyed being a lector, and was a member of the RCIA and Relay for Life teams. On May 25, 1974 at Sacred Heart Church in Fairfield, he married Linda K. Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Linda K. Stitzel of Somerville; two daughters, Rachel (William) Laderer of Columbus, Ohio and Elizabeth Stitzel of Cincinnati; his parents, Edwin and Patricia Stitzel of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Tyler, Isabel and Rylee; two brothers, Timothy Stitzel and Ed (Kelly) Stitzel; six sisters, Dianne Ninke, Suzan (Jim) Strayer, Lee Ann Gfroerer, Marianne Wahle, Maureen Orozco, and Janet Whitney; his good buddy, Robert "Sam" Dennis; and numerous other cherished family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 111 East High Street, Oxford, on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Jeff Silver, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Erick had requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his name and sent to St. Mary’s Church, 111 East High Street, Oxford, Ohio 45056, Relay for Life Team 2009.
