Ernest A. Lowry, age 71 of Hamilton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Ernest was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 5, 1953 to the late James and Helen (Reynolds) Lowry. Ernest graduated from New Miami High School, class of 1971 as the president of his class and nominated to the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020. After high school, Ernest proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he returned home and married the love of his life, Nancy and together they raised a family in Hamilton. He worked for Champion Paper for 14 years and was employed at Square D briefly before attending Hondros College for home appraisal and home inspection training. Ernest served the community as an appraiser and inspector for several years before retiring for health reasons in 2006.
In his spare time, Ernest coached softball and was his daughters’ biggest fan. He enjoyed talking with friends and never knew a stranger. He had a life-long passion for hunting. One of the highlights of his life was delivering Branko’s Beagles with his friend Joe Clark around the country.
Above all, Ernest loved God, his family, and his friends with all of his heart.
Ernest will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Nancy Lowry; his daughters, Joanna Lowry and Megan (Brian) Reed; his grandchildren, Hazel, Arabelle and Stella; his siblings, James (Ada) Cole, Parthina (Russell) Davis, Brenda Frazier, Orvetta (Robert) Brantley, and Ronald Stringer; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, as well as his hunting partner and best friend, Rufus Phillips.
Ernest is reunited in Heaven with his parents, his mother-in-law, Joan Wright; his siblings, James Butler, Gilford Lowry, Fred Lowry, and Helen Davis.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hamilton Christian Center, 1940 Millville Ave., Hamilton, OH 45013.
Funeral Services will be held the next day, Friday, December 6, 2024 at 12:00 NOON at Hamilton Christian Center with Rev. Curtus Moak officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton, OH.
Memorial contribution in Ernest’ honor may be gifted to the Hamilton Christian Center.
