Eva Smith

Eva Smith, age 87 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 4:30 PM. She was born in Manchester, Kentucky on August 21, 1920 the daughter of Gilbert and Maudie (Duff) Swafford. Eva was employed as a postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1980. Eva was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her family. On March 20, 1938 in Manchester, she married Foister Smith, who preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette (Clarence) Sizemore and Geneva (Henry) Smith, both of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Raleigh (Annette) Sizemore, Pamela (Glen) Blevins, Patricia (Samuel) Adams, Randy (Jennifer) Smith, and Lisa (Brian) Drew; seven great-grandchildren, Aaron, Caitlin, Cody, Chellie, Shawna, Jack, and Lizzie; a brother, Ray (Joy) Swafford of Manchester; and three sisters, Lola May of Indianapolis, Indiana, Doshia (Cloyd) Smith of Cedargrove, Indiana, and Edna (Bradley) Smith of Manchester. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons, Wayne and Blaine Smith; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Adams; and a brother, Marvin Swafford. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, February 18, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Paul Marcum of Fellowship Christian Center and Riley Parker, Pastor of Somerville Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
