Evelyn M. Holland

Evelyn M. Holland, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away at Berkeley Square Nursing Home on Friday, September 8, 2017. She was born in Hamilton on August 25, 1934 the daughter of Houston and Eva (Adams) Holland. Evelyn received her Bachelor’s Degree from Olivet Nazarene University and Master’s Degree from Ball State University. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for Hamilton City Schools for twenty nine years, retiring in 1985. Evelyn was a very active member of Walden Ponds Community Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and on the church and Sunday School Boards, she was the Sunday School Superintendent for over thirty years, played the organ and piano for over fifty years, and was a member of the Southwest Ohio District Sunday School Board.

Evelyn is survived by her twin sister, Carolyn Holland of Hamilton; devoted cousins, Dennis and Shari Adams of Hamilton and Debbie and Rodger Kretman of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Elnora Bittinger of West Chester; a host of other relatives and friends; and the countless children’s lives she touched through her years of teaching. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at Walden Ponds Community Church of the Nazarene, 6590 Walden Ponds Circle, on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Rev. David Hicks and Rev. Harville Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
