Flavia Y. House

Flavia Y. House, age 84 of New Miami, passed into the presence of Jesus on Thursday, April 4, 2019, surrounded by friends and family. Flavia was born in Dayton, Ohio on December 29, 1934 to Fred M. Hope and Emma Turner Hope. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth House, nephew Fred House, grandsons Chris and Aaron Jones, and sisters Giula House and Zenobia Couchot.

Flavia is survived by her children Diana M. (Shane) Gabbard, Kenneth E. House, Robin E. (Janet) House and the nieces and nephews she cared for after the death of her sister and brother-in-law Giula and Vernon House:

Carol (Tim) Sheets, Marie (Larry) Fox, Vernon (Patti) House, Roger (Theresa) Creech, and David (Teri) House.

Flavia also had 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Flavia graduated from Northridge High School in 1952, where she played french horn in the marching band and cello in the orchestra. She graduated from Sinclair Community College and worked as a secretary at Grace Methodist Church in Dayton. She was a secretary at Van Buren Elementary School in Hamilton from 1962 to 1967 and worked in shipping at Southwestern Ohio Steel (S.O.S) beginning in 1974, and then worked in H.R. (covering health insurance) until she retired.

Flavia was a long time member of the New Miami Wesleyan Church and served in many capacities over the years including treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.

Flavia will be remembered for her mischievous sense of humor, her love of good company and her generosity and compassion towards everyone.

Most of all she will be remembered for her love and trust in Jesus.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to the New Miami Wesleyan Church, 67 Elliott Ave. New Miami, Ohio 45011, C/O Pastor Roger Shaw to help with the church's parking lot replacement project.
