Flora May Varney, age 86 of Hamilton passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at 11:30 AM. She was born in Berea, Kentucky on January 20, 1921 the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Thomas) Kerby. Flora was employed in Quality Control at Pillsbury.
She is survived by two sons, Carroll (Judith) Taylor of Camden and Charles E. Onkst of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Maria Hoskins of Hamilton and Myrna (Luke) Wirth of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Doris) Kerby of Somerville and Gerald (Glenda) Kerby of McAlester, Oklahoma; and three sisters, Marie (Don) Mays of Blanchester, Ohio and Mildred (Darryl) Roach of Clovis, New Mexico, and Cecilia (Charles) Harbeson of McKenney, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; four husbands, Eugene Taylor, Raymond Onkst, Ivan Gilbert, and Gerald Varney; a daughter, Marsha Gilbert; three brothers, Bill, Kenny, and Emett; and two sisters, Lois and Ellen.
A memorial service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 4:00 PM with Chaplain Dennis Betts officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Vitas Hospice, 11500 N. Lake Dr., Suite 400, Cincinnati 45249.
