Floyd Arthur Jr. age 81 of Hamilton passed away in Westover Retirement Community on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 10:40AM. He was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 19, 1927, the son of Floyd and Goldie (Marcum) Arthur Sr. He graduated from Irvine High School and attended and graduated from Washburn Trade School in Texas and attended the University of Illinois. He was a veteran of WWII with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS Phobos where he was Storekeeper lst Class and Chief Petty Officer. He was employed in the Building and Property Management for Dollar Federal Savings and Loan for fifteen years retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Advisory Staff, Property Administration and Development of Butler Financial Corporation. He was a member of the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, President of the Building Owners and Managers Association, the Cincinnati Chapter, served on the Board of Governors of the North Central Region of BOMA, served on the committee of Codes and Regulations in Washington, DC. He was the owner and president of Arthur’s Royal Knight Limousine for nineteen years retiring in 2005 and was the vice-president of the Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Limousine Association. He enjoyed designing custom made jewelry and silversmith. He was a member of the Berean Baptist Church and managed and singer with the Chancellor’s Gospel Quartet for fifteen years.
On October 27, 1978 in Hamilton, he was married to Nancy Bake. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Arthur of Hamilton; one daughter, Kelly (Carew "J.R.") Williams of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Cameron and Courtney Williams and treasured the special times he spent with them. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. Joseph (Cathy) Arthur of DeLand, Florida; two sisters, Etta (Stan) Ferris of Clearwater, Florida and Christina Gray of DeLand, Florida and also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter Arthur and a brother-in-law, Dan Gray.
Funeral services will be held at the Berean Baptist Church, 6342 Hamilton-Middletown Rd. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 10AM with Rev. Steve Botts, Pastor and Dr. Joseph Arthur officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Berean Baptist Church. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the many staff nurses and therapists at Westover for their care, love and concern and also a special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Winters and her staff.
