Floyd W. Cope, age 80 of Hamilton passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 5:15 PM. He was born in Hamilton on February 2, 1928 the son of Eli and Eura (Morgan) Cope. Floyd was a veteran of World War II. Floyd was employed as a drum operator at Champion International for 46 years, retiring in 1990.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Combs of Hamilton; he was Uncle Floyd to Gary (Brenda) Cope and Debbie Moore of Hamilton; Great Uncle Floyd to Amy, Kevin, Becci, Cathy, Brian, Dylan, Don, Derek, Mark, Kelly, Alexis, and Josh; and Great Great Uncle Floyd to Pharron, Baelin, Briann, Madison, Kyra and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Elias Cope; brother, Clifford Cope; sisters, Ruby and Hazel Cope; and nephews, Donald and Daryl Cope.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Rick Witt of Faith Pentecostal Church of Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
