Floyd Clifford George

Floyd Clifford George, age 85 of Hamilton, passed away at Mt. Healthy Christian Home on Friday, May 4, 2007 at 7:40 AM. He was born in Highbridge, Kentucky on February 5, 1922 the son of William F. and Mary Katherine (Grant) George. Floyd was a veteran of World War II with the United States Navy from 1943-1945. He was employed as the warehouse supervisor at Beckett Paper for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Floyd was a member of the West Side Church of Christ. He was a former member of North Seventh Street Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon, Elder, Trustee and also taught the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for 17 years. Floyd helped as a custodian for North Seventh Street Church of Christ, American General Insurance, and Western-Southern Insurance. He was an avid model builder with over three hundred models in his collection. On August 9, 1942 he married Anna Hurt.

He is survived by his wife, Anna George of Hamilton; one son, Dennis (Susan) George of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; three daughters, Melinda (LeRoy) Singleton, Patty (Kenneth) Griessmann, both of Hamilton, and Sharon (William) Beals of Lebanon; four brothers, Bobby and Roy George, both of Hamilton, Buddy George of Fairfield Township, and Harold George of West Chester; two sisters, Bessie Lockwood and Betty Sue Arnold, both of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Deanna Oliver, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary Katherine George, David and Daniel Griessmann, and Chris Beals; and five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Carlee, Alex, Clint and Drake. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clyde George; and one sister, Mary Lou Elmore.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Bill Thacker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to West Side Church of Christ, 1190 Stahlheber Road, Hamilton, Ohio, 45013.
