Francis Stang

Francis Stang, age 75 of Hamilton passed away in his residence on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 6:10 AM. He was born in Okeana on January 10, 1933, the son of George and Evelyn (Phillips) Stang. Francis was a 1951 graduate of Hamilton High School; attended Miami University for two years and attended University of Cincinnati night school for sixteen years and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master’s Degree in Accounting. He was employed as the Manager for Cost Accounting at Beckett Paper Company for forty-two years retiring in 1990. Francis was a life member of the Butler County Sportsman Club; a Public Utilities Commissioner for the City of Hamilton; Treasurer for the Senior Citizens; Treasurer for the Elderly Service Board; a member of the Industrial Management Club and other clubs related to company organizations; after retirement, he taught cost accounting at the Hamilton Campus of Miami University; was a member of the Republican Party; Hamilton Safety Council and numerous city and civic organizations and the Starlighters Dance Club; he enjoyed shooting, hunting and dancing and was very active at Grace United Methodist Church. On December 12, 1970 in Hamilton, he was married to Frances Burtis.

A devoted husband, father and friend, he is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Frances Stang of Hamilton; three daughters, Denice (Dave) Sositko of Hamilton, Dixie (Jack) Ward of Jacksonville, Florida and Maria (Jeff) Miller of Hamilton; one sister, Dixie (Marvin) Sunderhaus of Hamilton; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded indeath by his parents and one brother, George Stang.

Funeral services will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church, 1200 Main Street, on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11 AM. with Dr. Robert Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 AM to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to Grace United Methodist Church.
