Fred Lakes

Fred Lakes, age 91, of Hamilton, passed away at Hawthorn Glen Nursing Center on Monday, April 19, 2010. He was born in Hamilton on October 29, 1918 the son of Fount Jason and Lydia (Drew) Lakes. An Army veteran of WW II, he served in Europe and the Asiatic-Pacific. Fred was employed at H P Deuscher Foundry for 7 years and Champion International for 43 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton, Hugh-Bates # 686 F&AF, and Cincinnati Valley Scottish Rite. On November 18, 1939 in Covington, Kentucky he married Lillian McGuire, who passed away on October 2, 2009.

He is survived by his son, Fred William (Karen) Lakes of Hamilton; his daughter, Patricia Ann (James) Tucker of Mason; grandchildren, Debbie (Kenneth) Carpenter of Fairfield, Kathy Hardman of Hamilton, Lisa (Kenneth) Short of Grove City, Andrea Lee Wells of Port Richey, Florida, Sammy (Sarah) Latham of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, and Tim (Stephanie) Carpenter of Milford; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved pet, Friskie. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, James Franklin Lakes and Casper Lakes; and two sisters, Viennia Seiter and Violet Marcum.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Dr. Dennis Metzger and Rev. William Brantingham of First Baptist Church of Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hamilton. Fred’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. George Manitsas, the staffs of Hospice of Dayton and Hawthorn Glen, as well as many thanks to Charlie.
