Frederick "Gene" Eyl

Frederick "Gene" Eyl, age 77 of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 6:23PM. He was born in New Richmond, OH on August 19, 1938 to Eugene and Agnes (Ebaugh) Eyl. On May 7, 1960 in Hamilton, he married Barbara Beer. Gene was employed at Prudential Insurance for 32 years. After retirement he was also a bus driver for the Fairfield Schools. Gene was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus; he was a President of the Badin Catham Club; he was also President of the St. Peter in Chains CYO; he was one of the founding members of the St. Peter in Chains Friday Night Bingo; and also an usher at the church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara Eyl, of Hamilton; three children, David (Cherri) Eyl, of Jacksonville, FL, Jeffrey (Karen) Eyl, of Fairfield, Steven (Anne) Eyl, of Boulder, CO; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Ashton, Sarah, Alexandra, Adam, Gabrielle, Nicholas, Alec; three great grandchildren; one brother, Joe (Mary Carol) Eyl, and one sister Mary Catherine Reid; and one sister in law Sandra Beer. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brother in laws, Thomas Beer, Carl Beer, and Robert Reid. His greatest joy came from watching his sons and grandchildren participating in sports.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10:30AM. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 1350 Millville Ave with a Knights of Columbus service starting at 7:45PM. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday at 9:30AM at the funeral home.
