Frederick G. Layton Sr.

Frederick G. Layton Sr., age 77 of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Fred was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 9, 1940 to Frederick Sr. and Lucille Stork. Fred went into the Army at the age of 17, then after his service in ’59 he served in the National Guard until ’63. On February 6, 1961, he married Thelma Bolser. Fred joined Local 18 Union in 1961, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gun smithing, and pioneer culture. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Fred is survived by wife of 56 years, Thelma Layton; his children, Frances (Scott) Jennings and Fred G. (Christine) Layton Jr; his grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Christian, Ashley Jennings, Sierra E. Layton, and Kelly D. Layton; his great grandchildren, Layla, Isiah, Tyler, and Adalyn; his siblings, Joann (the late John) Rhodus and Joyce Zenk. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Stork Sr. and Lucille Layton; and his brother, John Daniel Layton.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Billy Bruns officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.
