Garfield "Bud" Johnson

February 6, 1923 — November 29, 2010

Garfield "Bud" Johnson, age 87 of Oxford passed away at his son’s residence on Monday, November 29, 2010 after a long illness. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on February 6, 1923, the son of Alex and Mandy (Hammons) Johnson. Bud was a machine repairman at Pillsbury for 27 years, retiring in 1977. He was a devoted father and a person who never met a stranger. Bud was a member of Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle. On August 8, 1953 in Brookville, Indiana he married Carrie Hoskins and she preceded him in death in 2001.

He is survived by three sons, Larry (Kathy) Johnson of Oxford, Gary (Judy) Johnson of Hamilton, and Andy (Tina) Johnson of Oxford; two daughters, Sylvia (Karl) McDonald of Star Lake, Wisconsin and Sandra (Gary) Hubbard of Oxford; a brother, Dave (Nellie) Johnson of Connersville, Indiana; two sisters, Dora Westerfield of Connersville, Indiana and Maggie Bowling of Fairfield; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, a granddaughter, Charity Johnson; three brothers, Albert, Delbert, and Roscoe Johnson; and four sisters, Lettie Carroll, Lillie McIntosh, Millie Bowling, and Ethel Bowling.

Funeral service will be held at Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle, 7460 Morris Road, Hamilton 45011 on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 12:00 noon with Bro. Donald Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle. Bud’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Kathy Johnson for her love and care.
