Gary L. Beckett

Gary L. Beckett, age 69 of Oxford, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 8:25 PM. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 21, 1942 the son of Alden and Edna (McGaughy) Beckett. Major Gary Beckett was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1984, serving in Vietnam as a highly decorated officer. He continued to work in coordination with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base until 2010. Gary was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Darrtown. On June 6, 1964 in Akron he married Joyce Micale.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Beckett of Oxford; a son, John Beckett of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Tracy (Christopher) Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Shannon (Joey) Wanderski of Cincinnati; his father, Alden Beckett of Monroe; a brother, Richard A. Beckett of West Chester; and four grandchildren, Ben, Sam, Josh, and Jake. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister-in-law, Bonnie K. Beckett. Gary enjoyed the company of many close and loving family members and friends. With them, he loved to garden, fish, do woodworking, make tasty Italian sausage, and laugh.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
