Gary M. "Moose" Mitchell Sr.

Gary M. "Moose" Mitchell Sr., age 67 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:45 AM. He was born in Hamilton on December 10, 1944 the son of Norman and Lena (Parrotta) Mitchell. Moose was a member of the National Guard and was employed as a roofer at Hamilton Roofing and KCR. He was a lifetime member of Amvets #2, and a longtime member of the Eagles #407 and FOPA #19. Moose was A Business Special Deputy Sheriff for numerous years. On November 17, 2006 in Fairfield he married Betty Mays.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Mays Mitchell of Hamilton; a son, Gary M. (Tonya) Mitchell Jr. of Hamilton; a daughter, Daisy Angelina (Martin) Schlessinger of Fairfield and their mother, Barbara Croucher; special grand-daughter Monafia; seven stepchildren, Jim (Linda) Thompson of Fairfield, Joey Alcorn of Middletown, Teri Thompson of Hamilton and their mother Joyce Mitchell, Robert Campbell of Florida, William Campbell of Hamilton, Joshua Deal of Indiana, and Nicole Mays of Hamilton; a brother, Ronald (Karen) Mitchell of Hamilton; a sister, Sandy (Rex) Fletcher of Fairfield; his step-brother, Frank Wright of Hamilton; twenty-five grandchildren; James, Hilary, Ellisa, Krishrina, Michael, Monafia, Martin III, Heather, Robyn, Teri, Jesse, Krista, Tommy, Josh, Ian, Noah, Hailey, Ricky, Danielle Nicole, Nathaniel, William Jr., Jasmine Lee, Brandon, McKenzie and Nala Nicole; nine great-grandchildren; Jesse, Autumn, Rylee, Greysen, Gabriella, Trista, Arianna, Stephen; granddaughter "Baby Duke". Moose’s siblings children; Lisa, Ronnie Jr., Rex, Jr., Jana, Sherry, Vince, Norman Jr, Jesse and Jamie, plus numerous cousins which includes special cousins Mickey and Donna. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Mitchell Jr.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bobby Groves of Soul Winners Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his extended family and friends who have supported us with love and kindness.
