Gary Joseph Tortella

Gary Joseph Tortorella, 73, of Apple Valley, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026. Gary was born on May 28, 1953, in Manhattan, New York, to Catherine Tortorella and the late Joseph Tortorella. Gary dedicated many years of his career to Delta Air Lines, where he was a valued member of the team and formed many lifelong friendships. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time boating on the lake, had a lifelong passion for all things motorsports, and was a devoted music enthusiast. He also had a special love for animals and cared for countless cats and dogs throughout his life, always willing to provide them with a loving home.

Gary is survived by his loving mother, Catherine Tortorella; his sons, Michael and Christopher; his granddaughter, Virginia Tortorella; his brothers, Alphonse Tortorella and Anthony Tortorella; his sister, Teresa Tortorella; and his former spouse, Wendy Becker, mother of his sons. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Tortorella; his spouse, Grace Tortorella; his children, Jennifer and Paul; and his former spouse, Debra Schuman, mother of his late children.

A small Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with close family members. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Animal Friends Humane Society of Butler County, Ohio, or to your local animal shelter, honoring Gary's lifelong love and compassion for animals.
