Gene Shepherd, age 72 of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014. He was born in Hamilton on August 21, 1942 to Cloyd and Maggie (Spurlock) Shepherd. In June of 1984 he married Donna Daniel. Gene worked for General Motors for 30 years and retired in 1998. Gene really enjoyed going to yard sales and the flea markets with his friends Rosco, Charlie, Otis and Jeff.
He is survived by his children Wanda J. Tyree, Donald Shepherd, Cheryl Seagraves, Charles D. Robinson (Donitta),Tommy G. Tyree; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Donald is also survived by his special friends Steve Dawson and Jeff Kelly. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, son James S. Gabbard, brothers Harold Ray and Paul Thomas and nephew Tommy Shepherd.
Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
