Geneva Mcswain

Geneva L. McSwain, age 89 of Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born in Beattyville, KY on January 13, 1924 to the late James and Bertie (Brandenburg) Hogan. She moved to Hamilton during the war and worked in many factories. While at Champion Paper, she met and married Merle McSwain on April 13, 1946. He preceded her in death on their 45th wedding anniversary. Merle told her, when she was expecting her first and only child she now had a full time job as a mother. She took this very seriously and was the best mother that anyone could have. Geneva loved God, read her Bible daily, and was in church every time the doors were open. She was a charter member of West Side Church of Christ and the second oldest surviving charter member.

She is survived by her son, Greg (Pamela) McSwain; grandchildren, Staci McSwain and Alex McSwain; great-granddaughter, Madison; sister, Waulene Powell; and brother-in -law, Dan McSwain. She was preceded in death by 10 half brothers and sisters; one brother, Stanley Hogan; and three sisters, Anita Shoemaker, Madeline Caldwell and Irene Rogers.

She will be truly missed by all of her church friends, especially her Sunday school teacher, Roger Richardson. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and care takers from The Woodlands of Hamilton.

Visitation will be 12noon until time of service (1pm), Saturday, December 21, 2013, at West Side Church of Christ, 1190 Stahlheber Road Hamilton, Ohio, with Pastor Larry Shoemaker officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow. Private burial will be held at a later date, in Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to West Side Church of Christ.
