George D. Kauffung, age 83 of Oxford passed away at his residence on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 9:15 PM. He was born in Hamilton on September 29, 1925 the son of George and Nellie (Harvey) Kauffung. George was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956. He was employed as a machinist and drill press operator at Miami Machine. On June 10, 1961 in Hamilton he married Carol A. Graves, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, David Kauffung of Reily Township and Alan (Claire) Kauffung of Fairfield; a daughter, Corinne Merry of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Jessie Merry, Zachary Merry, Mike Banks, Stephanie Kauffung, and Madeleine Kauffung; a brother, Thomas (Barbara) Kauffung of Forest Park; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Kauffung; and three sisters, Mildred Garland, Virginia Maltby, and Florence Tussey.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 10:30 AM with George’s brother, Thomas Kauffung officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
