George "Boy" Smallwood Jr.

George "Boy" Smallwood Jr., age 61 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 3:13 PM. He was born in Hamilton on April 8, 1947 the son of George and Ruth (Stephens) Smallwood. George was employed as a truck driver for 40 years, retiring in 2005.

He is survived by four children, Frankie Gross, George (Dawn) Smith, Patricia (Michael) Turton and Margie (Chad) Becknell; one brother, Albert Smallwood; one sister, Loretta Parker; ten grandchildren, Cody, Courtney, and Christopher Gross, Erica Poharski, Dustin Scrimpshire, Amber Smith, Matt, Savannah, and Kyle Kellum, and Christopher Becknell; three great-grandchildren, Isiah, Amelia, and Rickie; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cody Thackrey; brothers, Leo, Elmo, and Enoch Smallwood; sister, Mary Terry; and granddaughter, Erina.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 9:30 AM with Pastor Jimmy Smith of Church of God of Prophecy officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
