George W. Tillery

George W. Tillery, age 89 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, August 25, 2013. He was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on January 14, 1924 the son of James H. and Mary Sue (Gabbard) Tillery. George was employed at Champion Paper Company for 43 years, retiring in 1986. He attended Pater Avenue Pentecostal Church of God, was in the CCC’s for 18 months from 1941-1942, and was a member of the Champion Old Timers Club. On July 26, 1943 in McKee, Kentucky he married Zella Collins, and she preceded him in death in 2011.

He is survived by one son, Michael Tillery of Hamilton; a daughter, Sue (Al) Molter of Hamilton; a brother, Harold James Tillery of Hamilton; a sister, Dorothy Maggard of Berea, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Sandy Tillery, Paula (Scott) Garula, Lori (Matt) Ginter, Chris Tillery, Kim Molter, and Debbie (Chris) Casarcia; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gene Tillery; two brothers, Amos and Charles Tillery; and three sisters, Opal Lunsford, Hazel Reed, and Della Tillery.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Clarence Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to Hospice of Hamilton, 1010 Eaton Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
