George M. Wardrup, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014. He was born in London, Kentucky on June 18, 1934 to Charlie and Elizabeth (Hubbard) Wardrup. On April 25, 1958 in Hamilton he married Rosetta Hoskins. George was a retired welder from Mosler Safe Company. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Columbia Lodge #44, Miamitown, Ohio. George was an avid hunter, enjoyed gardening, and shooting pool. He was defined by his storytelling, and his famous line was "believe it or not." George loved spending time with his family and friends in London, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Wardrup; children, Pamela (Larry) Fields, Ronnie (Lisa) Wardrup, Marilyn (Olan Jr.) Brashear, Lonnie (Donna) Wardrup, and Shonda (Scott) Dillon; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Aileen Woodyard and Stella Wardrup; brothers, Lloyd (Sharon) Wardrup and Clarence (Bernice) Wardrup; and a brother-in-law, Jim Sawyers. He was preceded in death by siblings, Andrew Wardrup, Fount Wardrup, Hilda Wardrup, Maxine (Ray) Hoskins, and Estelene Sawyers; brother-in-law, Bart Woodyard; and his parents.
Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 3:00 PM with Shawn Baker officiating. A Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home at 2:45 PM. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
