Gerald "Jack" Johnson, age 76, of Hamilton, passed away at Regency Hospital of Cincinnati on Monday December 14, 2009 at 11:10 PM. He was born in London, Kentucky on November 23, 1933 the son of Elmer and Ruby (Harville) Johnson. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was retired from Champion Paper and formerly worked in maintenance at C&C Lounge. Jack was a member of Amvets and VFW. He enjoyed fixing things and camping. On May 23, 1960 in Williamstown, Kentucky he married Bertha Joy Mullenax, who passed away on June 14, 2007.
He is survived by three children, Tony (Pamela) Johnson, Theresa Johnson, and Anthony Johnson all of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Alice (Tony) Binegar, Scott Meyer, Tim (Amy) Meyer and Amanda Watson; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Shawn, Ashley, Miranda, Harley, Hannah, Morgan, and Billy; three great-great grandchildren, Breana, Lilly, and Bristen; two brothers, Ferrell (Alene) Johnson of Ross and Keith (Judy) Johnson of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; two sisters, Jean (Mervil) Proffitt and Phyllis (Ray) Chasteen, both of London, Kentucky; friend and companion, Dessie Bell of Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Elby Harrison of Harvest Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
