Gerald Guy Mize

Gerald Guy Mize, age 79 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 9:30 PM. He was born in Hamilton on December 13, 1929 the son of Roscoe and Lola (Creech) Mize. Gerald was employed as a laborer at Triasco Blacktopping, retiring in 1992. He was a lifetime member of Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1 and Local Union #534. On June, 26, 1948 in Newport, Kentucky he married Janet G. Lyons, and she preceded him in death on November 2, 2007.

He is survived by a son, Paul Mize of Tampa, Florida; three daughters, Sharon (Terry) Roark, Geraldine (Chuck) Satterthwaite, and Beverly (Roy) Feltner, all of Hamilton; two brothers, Norman (Yvonne) Mize of Hamilton and Milton (Mary) Mize of Fairfield; a sister, Wilda (Mark) Scheffel of Fairfield; a granddaughter whom he raised, Valerie Jones; eight grandchildren, Tammy Roark, Todd (Brenda) Roark, Travis (Jamie) Roark, Brandon Feltner, Cassie (Jim) Hirka, Rich (Lissa) Mize, Staci (Mark) Newkirk, and Jason Mize; thirteen great-grandchildren, Brittany, Tiffany, Tyler, Megan, Teren, Zach, Brady, Sidney, Chelsie, Richie Jr., Griffin, Jayden, and Parker; a brother-in-law, Richard Lyons of Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Treva Wyatt of Oxford; special care providers Fran Todd and Jerry Greer; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Mize and Lola Mize-Bundy.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
