Geraldine "Gerry" Marshall

Geraldine "Gerry" Marshall, age 83 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2:40 AM. She was born in Butler County on October 11, 1926 the daughter of William H. and Ethel Claire (Bostick) Marshall. Gerry was employed as a secretary in the electrical department at Champion International Paper for 46 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Champion Retirees Club, where she was Secretary from 1991 to 1994 and President from 1994 to 1997. Gerry enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and bowling for the Champion Green Wave Ladies. She also played on a traveling team as a catcher. Gerry was inducted into the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame in 1984.

She is survived by two brothers, Neil (Viola) Marshall of Albuquerque, New Mexico and James (Francie) Marshall of Hamilton; and a number of nieces, nephews, and great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, brother, Lloyd Marshall and Charles "Buddy" Marshall; and six sisters, Frances Hartley, Hilda Kirk, Freda Murphy, Janice Holland, Doris Hill, and Grace Williams.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 6:00 PM with Chaplain Lauren Marsh officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder; a special thank you to her caregivers in Memory Lane, Betty, Crissy, Nikki, and Diane; and to the activities staff, Redina and Cathy. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the activities department at Schroder or Hospice of Cincinnati.
