Geraldine Mills

Geraldine Mills (nee Hensley), age 72, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. She was born October 22, 1937 in Hamilton, Ohio to Thelma (Burns) and Bernal Hensley. She married Manford Mills on June 20, 1997 who will always remember his "Wheezie/Lou-Lou" with love and admiration.

In her younger years, Geraldine enjoyed crafts including sewing, ceramics and crocheting. She often made baby quilts for her grandchildren and afghans for family and friends. Geraldine was also an excellent cook. She owned and operated Geri’s Restaurant in Manchester, Kentucky for many years. She spoke proudly of her work as a nurse’s aide for different establishments, including Mercy North Hospital, numerous nursing homes as well as home health care. In more recent years, nothing made her smile more than a trip to the casinos. She will be missed dearly by many.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Manford Mills and his daughter Robin (Ray) Chenault; five children, Brenda Brown, Donna (Ronnie) Gray, Pam (Ted) McIntosh, Bob (Jayne) McGuire and Sandy (Lyndale) Justice; one sister, Marie Mills and four brothers, Bill Wagers, Ray Wagers, Darryl Wagers, and Fred Hensley. Geri was blessed with 17 grandchildren and too many great-grandchildren to list, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and a special sister, Ruth Ann Jackson.

The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the nursing staff on the fourth floor at Ft. Hamilton Hospital for their excellent care, compassion, and sincerity.

Services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 9:00am. Officiating the service will be Rev. Paul Hensley with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation welcoming relatives and friends is Friday, August 6, 2010 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home.
