Gerald “Jerry” Allen Zehler, age 74, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at his home in Middletown, Ohio. Gerald was born on November 2, 1947 on at Ft. Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio, to Homer and Marjorie Jean (Weaver) Zehler.
Jerry grew up in Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated from Garfield Senior High School in Hamilton, Ohio in 1965. He attended technical institute in 1966. He joined the United States Marines Corps in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1970, achieving the rank of Lance Corpal. When returning home, he worked for Champion Paper. Later, he worked for Ampac Plastics as an Extruder Operator for approximately 30 years until he retired.
After retiring from Ampac Plastic, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family; he was a proud father and grandfather. Family was the most important part of Jerry’s life. He lived life to its fullest, treasuring every moment. He loved to just drive everywhere for countless hours sight-seeing. When he was still able, he loved to hike park trails with his grandson, David. Everyone who knew Jerry felt his big heart and giving nature. He will be truly missed, especially by his daughter, Melinda, and his 5 grandchildren, with whom he spent countless hours with.
Jerry's legacy lives on in his loving family through his daughters, Melinda (Carlos) Agustin and Gerilynn (Barry) Parker; his grandchildren, David Williams, Jayden Sears, Abigail “Abbi” Sears, Niko C. Agustin, Daniel “Danny” Agustin, Owen Parker; his sister, Donna (David) Chesnut; his nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends, Brittany (Royce) Sutton and their children who called him “Papaw”.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Homer Zehler; mother, Marjorie J. (Weaver) Zehler; and brother, Richard Zehler.
All are invited to attend the services at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave, Hamilton, Ohio 45011, on Jerry's birthday, November 2, 2022. Visitation is at 12 pm and services following after at 1PM. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made directly to Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home at the Pershing Ave location in Hamilton, Ohio.
