Gladys G. Hobbs

Gladys G. Hobbs, age 85 of Fairfield passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 11:45 PM. She was born in Pendleton County, Kentucky on August 1, 1924 the daughter of Harvey H. and Anna Elmer (Roark) Johnson. Gladys was a well-known bartender for Merchants Bar on Court Street, Symmes Tavern in Fairfield, and the former Blacklight Lounge (now Gina’s). She was married to Charles Hobbs, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2001.

She is survived by a son, Ron Neil Lawson of Fairfield; a sister, Ruth "Ruthetta" (Elmo) Singleton, to whom she was both a sister and mother of Hamilton; four grandchildren, to whom she was known as "Bubbles," Jeanette, Pam, Brian, and Neil; six great-grandchildren, September, Crystal, Mica, Corry, Nick, and Jordyn; five great-great-grandchildren, Calvin, Jayden, Ethan, Jacob, and Alexis; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Darlene Joyce Coldiron; and four brothers, Oran, Leroy, John and Edward Johnson.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dana Pendergrass officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
