Grace Grimes

Grace Grimes, age 92 of Hamilton, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Grace was born in Winchester, Kentucky on April 27, 1933 to Robert and Emma Hatton. She retired in 1996, after a dedicated 26-year career at Ohio Casualty. Upon retirement, Grace embraced what she considered her most cherished role- caring for her grandchildren. For the next 20 years, she poured her heart into this calling, finding immense joy and purpose in every moment she spent with them. A woman of deep faith, she prayed earnestly for others and found comfort in lifting every concern in prayer. Grace’s creativity knew no bounds. She was a gifted artist, whose drawings could capture imaginations and stir emotions. As a talented seamstress, she transformed simple fabrics into stunning creations, each one a unique design of Grace.

She was the heart of her home, a constant source of encouragement, laughter and unconditional care. Her family adored her, not only for the love she gave so freely, but also for the wisdom, joy and strength she shared every day. Her love will be in the hearts of those who knew her, and her presence will be missed beyond measure.

Grace is survived by her daughters, Connie Retherford and Tammie (Dan) Collins; her son-in-law, Pat Retherford; her grandchildren, Morgan, Elizabeth, Zach (Kate), Emma and Patrick; her great-granddaughter, Allie Rose; her brothers, Courtney (Diane) Hatton and Carl (Barbara) Hatton; her many nieces and nephews; and among her many loved ones, her bond with her family member, Kay Back was a cherished source of comfort and laughter. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Grimes; her granddaughter, Ann-Marie; her brother, Bob (Kathleen) Hatton Jr.; her sisters, Lillian (Harold) Elliott and Clara (Johnny) Adams; her niece, Kathi Elliott and nephew, Butch Elliott.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM with Pat Bach officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
