Greg Sams

Greg Sams, age 56, of Hamilton passed away unexpectedly Friday February 25, 2011 on the job site. He was born January 22, 1955 in Hamilton the son of Robert and Doris Jean (Moore) Sams. Greg was a 1973 graduate of Taft Senior High School. On August 16, 1975 he married Paula Mays. Greg was employed at Laming & Rogers Plumbing and Beckett Paper Co. before becoming a self-employed plumber. He was a member of Hamilton West Eagles # 3986 and AMVETS Post 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Sams of Hamilton; two sons, Andy Gregory (Amanda) Sams and Christopher Scott (fiancée Mary Bui) Sams all of Hamilton; His mother Doris Jean Sams of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Lindsi, Bryce, Blake, and Parker Sams; two brothers, Steve (Elaine) Sams and Robert Sams both of Hamilton; a sister, Vickie (Don) Brandenburg of Hamilton; brothers-in-law, Willie (Wanda) Mays, Mike (Debbie) Mays, Mark (Freida) Mays, and sisters-in-law, Donna (Butch) Varner, Janet Varner, and Pam (Mark) Philpot all of Hamilton; and many, very much loved, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sams; mother and father-in-law, Hazel and Clyde Mays; grandparents, Johnny & Ida Mae Moore and Pearl & Bertha Sams and a brother-in-law Owen Varner.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Tim Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family can be made through the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to family and friends for their prayers and support.
