Gregory Lynn Lakes

Gregory Lynn Lakes, age 56 of Wayne Township passed away at Garden Manor Extended Care Center on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 1:30 PM after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease. He was born in Hamilton on May 23, 1954 the son of Cecil and Loretta (Coe) Lakes.

Greg was known for his outgoing personality and clever sense of humor. Even from childhood he liked making people laugh and smile; in fact he was voted "wittiest" in his Edgewood High School class of 1972. Greg graduated from Miami University in 1982 earning a B. S. in Mass Communication. He enjoyed music and during the 1970’s and 1980’s he sang and played guitar in local bands. Greg also was a golf enthusiast since his teenage years and he especially enjoyed playing at Vista Verde Golf Course.

He is survived by his parents, Cecil and Loretta Lakes of Wayne Township; one brother, Gary (Andry) Lakes of Nicosia, Cyprus; one sister, Caroline (Kevin) Williams of Hamilton; his fiancée, June Bruck of Cincinnati; nephew, David Lakes of London, England; niece, Hannah Williams of Hamilton; and numerous lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
