Guy Oakley Shiplet

August 31, 1921 — December 7, 2007

Guy Oakley Shiplet, age 86 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 4:45 AM. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on August 31, 1921 the son of Beecher and Ida (Mink) Shiplet. Guy was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was employed at Diebold Inc. as a foreman for forty years. He was a member of the VFW #1069, the Monkey Mutual Aid Society, Senior Citizens, and Faith United Church of Christ. On June 30, 1950 in Hamilton he married Elsie May Willoughby. Guy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Shiplet of Hamilton; three daughters, Diana Lynn (Carl) Bauknecht of New Richmond, Ohio, Sandra Kay (Bill) Spadafora of Liberty Township, and Lora Marie (Danny) Minges of Millville, Ohio; a brother, Lee (Carolyn) Shiplet of Hamilton; three sisters, Marene Shane of Ross, Iona (Bill) Jones, and Loretta (Harry) Otto, both of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Joseph Michael and Katherine Marie Spadafora, Alison Marie and Adam Daniel Minges. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Irene Haley and Geneva Shiplet.

Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 12:00 noon with Dr. Allen Minor, Pastor of Faith United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Guy’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Hillandale Communities and Hospice of Hamilton for their care and support.
