Gwen F. Evans Thompson

Gwen F. Evans Thompson, age 51 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away at University of Louisville Hospital on Saturday, December 8, 2007. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 12, 1956 the daughter of James Robert and Shirley L. (McIntyre) Evans. Gwen graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. She had a teaching degree in Fine Arts in the states of Ohio, Kentucky and Georgia. Two of her ink drawings have been on permanent display at Holmes Hospital in Cincinnati since 1982. Gwen’s cartoon strip "Outa This World" was copyrighted in 1979. She was employed at Humana in Louisville for the past 17 years. She was an avid fan of Digby, Pearl Jam, and Nine Inch Nails.

A loving daughter, Gwen is survived by her mother, Shirley L. Evans of Louisville; a brother, Jimmie D. (Tina) Evans of Troy, Illinois; a sister, Regina (Robert) Sortman of St. Clair Township, Ohio; two nieces, Amber Scalf and December Haley of Hamilton; a nephew, Jeremy Evans of Southwestern Missouri State University; two great-nephews; one great-niece; and many aunts, uncles, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011 on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Carmody of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Gwen’s family extends heartfelt thank you to the chaplain and emergency department of University of Louisville Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to any charity which benefits animals.
