Harold "Tony" York

Harold "Tony" York, age 78 passed away on Monday, April 23, 2007 while a resident of Golden Years Health Care. Harold, nicknamed "Tony" by his family, was born January 21, 1929 in Hamilton. He attended school in Seven Mile.

Tony leaves his wife, Mary (Bryant) York, whom he married on June 12, 1948, and they were married for fifty-nine years. He leaves a son, Tom York and his wife Laura, and two grandchildren, Lauren and Daniel. His parents, George and Flossie (Waddell) York preceded him in death. His family included nine brothers and sisters. Preceding him in death are his brother Russell of Hamilton, and sisters Iva Riebsomer, Betty Sims, and Helen Williams, all of Connersville, Indiana. He leaves his sisters Joy Gard of Connersville, Deanna Hensley of Dickinson, Texas, George York Jr. of Ft. Myers, Florida, Ronnie York of Ocala, Florida and Bill York of Brookville, Indiana.

Tony was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked at Champion Paper for 27 years, retiring in 1978. He developed many close friendships there, including Fred Campbell. Tony was happiest when traveling by motor home with his family and close friends, Leroy and Jane Baker and Charlie and Gwen Blankenship.

Tony and his family attended Tri-County Assembly of God for many years with Senior Pastor Hugh Rosenburg, and most recently the Faith Pentecostal Church, pastored by the Rev. Rick Witt.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ, c/o Brown-Dawson, 330 Pershing Avenue, Hamilton 45011. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff of Golden Years Health Care for the wonderful care Tony received while a resident there.
