Hazel E. Neurohr, age 97 of Hamilton passed away at The Woodlands of Hamilton on Monday, May 21, 2012. Hazel was born in Gilford, Indiana on June 24, 1914 the daughter of William and Grace (Chance) Stuckey. She graduated from Western Hills High School in 1931. She loved to reminisce about her days as a child growing up on a farm. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family. Hazel was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, where she spent countless hours attending Mass, helping with the weekly bulletin mailing and cleaning the church. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society, spending many hours in the "quilting room" at the church, working on a quilt to be donated. Hazel was a wonderful caregiver, always very loving, thoughtful, witty, and kind to all. On July 28, 1934 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana she married Arthur Neurohr, and they later moved to Hamilton. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Grace Ann Mabis. They lived and worked at Block Dairy Farm for 23 years and enjoyed many happy times there before he preceded her in death in 1964. Following Block Dairy, she worked at Borden/Cedar Hill Dairy for a number of years.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Keith (Nancy) Mabis, Ann (John) Hoskins, and Scott (Cathy) Mabis; great-grandchildren Kim (Lance) Rhoads, Ryan (Sarah Cox) Smith, Scott Hoskins, Matt Hoskins, Josh Mabis, Troy Mabis, and Erin Mabis; great-great-grandson Alex Rhoads; son-in-law Lowell Mabis; as well as numerous other family and friends, all of whom brought much happiness into her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved daughter, Grace Ann Mabis; and siblings Willis Stuckey and Jennie Stuckey.
Visitation will be held at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton Street, on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Mike Pucke, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Greendale Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana at 12:30. The family extends a very special thank you to The Woodlands of Hamilton and to Golden Years Nursing Center Assisted Living for their loving care, assistance, and compassion.
