With grateful hearts and gentle sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, mother and grandmother and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. After a long life marked by love, humility and unwavering faith, she has gone home to be with her Lord. Hazel Marie Walker,

Marie was born on June 15,1935 to Haskell Mills Sr. and Lula (Bowling) Mills in Knox County Kentucky. On March 3,1956 in Richmond, Indiana Marie married James E. Spencer the love of her life. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1966.

On June 1,1990 she married R.C. Walker of London, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Lula, two brothers, Haskell Mills Jr and Rev Kenny Mills Sr.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Sue Mills; two brothers-in-law, Richard Willis Sr. and Everett Hibbard Sr. She was also preceded in death by her six nephews; Everett Hibbard Jr, Kenny Mills Jr, Denny Mills, Timmy Mills, Earl Mills Jr and Richard Willis Jr.

Marie is survived by five siblings. Rev. Earl (Myrtle) Mills Sr, Rev. Robert (Wanda) Mills, both of Hamilton. Joyce Willis and Merrill Hibbard of Fairfield, OH. Effie Mills Rae of Sacramento, CA and many nieces, nephews, and numerous family members and a large host of friends here and in London, Ky. In evidence of the love and respect her family had for her was that she had 4 nieces who share her name; Tina Marie, Penny Marie, Tammy Marie, and Marie Hibbard (sissy Re).

Her Kentucky family. RC’s children who adopted her as “mom”. Stephen Walker and Stewart Walker of London, Ky and Debbie (Bart) Greenwald of Louisville, Ky. The surviving grandchildren include Stephen (fiancée Marla) Walker, Justin (Ashley) Walker, Matthew (Diannara) Walker, Katlyn Walker and Walker Greenwald.

Marie lived in London, Ky from May of 1980 to her retirement in April of 2019. Marie retired as a branch manager at the former London Bank and Trust which is now PNC bank. After 25 years of faithful service. She was also a Laurel County jailer. Marie had a wide variety of skills and abilities such as seamstress, cook, gardener and more.

She attended Souls Harbor church in London, Ky. and was a faithful member and volunteer cook & kitchen crew. She also served in the Prayer ministry. She was a faithful member for nearly 40 years. The family would like to express their appreciation to her Pastors Ronnie and Patty Ball (Emaritus) and current Pastors, Brad and Amanda Parrett. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to Bella Hospice Care for their kindness and excellent care of our loved one. We also want to acknowledge the care she received at Bradford Care nursing facility. The funeral will take place February 6th, at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home at 1350 Millville Ave in Hamilton. Visitation will be 10-12. Service will begin at 12 noon. Rev. Johnny Wade Sloan and Pastor Brad Parrett will conduct the service
