Helena L. Sayor-Lakes

Helena L. Saylor-Lakes, age 78 of Oxford passed away at Golden Years Health Care on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 3:25 AM. She was born in Hamilton on May 29, 1934 the daughter of Learonald and Hazel (Taggart) Murphy. Helena was employed as a private duty nurse. She sang in the Murphy Trio on WMOH Radio and in area churches, and was a supporter of Trinity Broadcasting Network.

She is survived by four sons, Kenneth E. (Jenny) Lakes of Hamilton, Terry Lakes of Gulf Shores, AL, Dale Lakes of Oxford, and Kevin (Lillian) Lakes of Hamilton; a daughter, Tammy (Jose) Garcia of Hamilton; the father of her children, Kenneth Lakes of Hamilton; a brother, Ronald Murphy; a sister, Joy (Vernon) Smith of Hamilton; 11 grandchildren, Kristina, Kendra, Stephanie, David, Jamie, Jessica, Justin, Daniel, Jeremy, Jeff, and Nickolas; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ray Murphy; and two sisters, Mildred Arnold and Rose Harding.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday Oct. 18, 2012 at 11AM with Pastor Mark Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. The family would like to thank Hospice of Cincinnati and the staff of Golden Years for their care and compassion.
