Helena E. Tasso

Helena E. Tasso, age 85 of Hamilton passed away at Drake Center on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 2:02 AM. She was born in Havana, North Dakota on January 3, 1924 the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (DeVore) Maus. Helena was employed as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital, Fort Hamilton Hospital, and at Schroder Manor where she retired in 1987. She attended St. Peter in Chains Church. Helena was a member of Altusa Club of Hamilton, Ohio Nurses Association Southwestern Chapter, the American Nurses Association; the Cadet Nurse Corp from 1943-1946; and the Who’s Who of American Women in 1979-1980. On October 15, 1947 in Hamilton she married Marion S. Tasso who preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by her son, Mick Tasso of Hamilton; daughter, Susan M. (James) Cochran of Hamilton; one brother, Nicholas (Donna) Maus of Vermont; one sister, Marcella Geisler of Hamilton; two granddaughters, Allison Hicks and Joslyn Tasso, both of Hamilton; and great-grandson, Ben. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary C. Harding; and grandson, James M. Cochran III.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Church, 382 Liberty Street, on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Father Timothy Bunch Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Stephen’s Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
