Henry Monroe Garrison, Jr. “Monroe” age 79, of Hamilton, went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2026. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on December 9, 1946 to Henry Monroe Garrison Sr. and Jessica Mae (Hacker) Garrison. He retired from Beckett Paper Company as a truck driver in 1998, where he made many lifelong friends who were more like family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy (McDaniel) Garrison; daughters, Cari (Steve Patrick) Polly of Hamilton, OH, and Maribeth (Terry) Scott of Richmond,KY; Grandchildren, Sgt. First Class US Army Ryan (Tori) Johnson Jr. of Ft. Lewis, WA, Alexander (Casey) Garrison of Richmond,KY, Laney (Tristan) Creekmore of Richmond,KY, and Sofi (Aaron) Raider of McKee,KY; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Hayes Johnson, Paisley and Lillian Creekmore, and Beckham Raider. His family was everything to him. Getting to spend time with them meant the world to him.
He is also survived by his sister, Mary Gladys Saylor of London,KY, and brother, Randall Lee (Joyce) Garrison of McKee,KY and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and the following siblings: Hobart, Oscar, Alonzo, James, Theodore, Dewey, John, Ben, Bertha, Leonard, Walter, Beatrice Garrison, Lorene (Willie) Sizemore, Corene (John) Wolfe, Lois (Enoch) Lee, Martha (Bogart) Ealy, Robert “Bob” Bowling, Jeanette Moore, and Douglas (Rosemary) Garrison, along with many nieces and nephews and close friends.
His kindness for all living things was second to none. He was the “vet” of the family and patched up all of the pets that he never really wanted us to have. He was selfless beyond compare, and he truly wanted everyone to win. He sacrificed for his family and the loss of him will be immeasurable. Monroe was one of the good ones. The family would like to extend deepest gratitude to the staff of Huntington Court who cared for him like he was their own Daddy while he was a resident there. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Visitation will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM with Terry Abner officiating.
