Henry C. "Snook" Helton

November 19, 1937 — August 23, 2016

Henry C. "Snook" Helton, age 78 of Seven Mile, passed away at The Christ Hospital on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born in Cincinnati on November 19, 1937 the son of Henry and Irene (Decker) Helton, Sr.

He was a member of Landmark Baptist Temple. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Department Superintendent, Head of the Trustees, and Chair of the Deacon Board throughout the years. Additionally, Henry was a 32nd degree Mason of the Masonic Temple, Washington Lodge and was a member of the Syrian Shrine. He was honored to be named a Kentucky Colonel.

Henry began his professional career at Beckett Paper Company and went on to own Helton Electric Company, where he was recognized as Small Businessman of the Year. Always an active member of the Republican Party, Henry was a member of council and Mayor of the Village of Seven Mile. He was a Butler County Commissioner and went on to become Bureau Chief Deputy Director of the State of Ohio’s Department of Commerce.

Henry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Henry loved watching his children and grandchildren in their passions and endeavors. He never missed a concert or game that his children or grandchildren were involved in. Additionally, Henry loved collecting vintage automobiles and loved to fish with his brothers.

He is survived by wife, Ruth Helton of Seven Mile; two children, Sherry (Greg) Ryle of Burlington, Kentucky and Scott (Valentina) Helton of Batavia; six grandchildren, Craig (Emilie) Helton, Zack (Mary Katherine) Ryle, Jessica Helton, Jake Ryle, Rachel Helton, and Aiden Helton; three great grandchildren, Gavin, Barbara, and Miles; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Boyce, Arlie, Donald (Dee), Albert, Hubert (Smoke), William Helton, and Irene Eicher.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Christ Hospital and the doctors of Ohio Heart for the years of dedicated care for both Henry and our family.

Henry’s funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 7:30 PM with Dr. Harold Rawlings officiating. Burial will follow at the convenience of the family at Belleview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home.
