Herbert Colwell

Herbert Colwell, age 92 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Monday, December 27, 2021. Herbert was born in Hyden, Kentucky on March 30, 1929 to Rubin and Callie Colwell. On November 7, 1953, he married the love of his life, Ruth E. Hendricks. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, then went into the reserves from 1953 to 1957. Herbert was a faithful member, for over 60 years, at North Fairfield Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and usher. Herbert retired from General Motor Company in 1991. Herbert was a wonderful carpenter and a handiman of many skills; he had great satisfaction in helping people.

Herbert is survived by his children, Randy (Terri) Colwell and Brenda Lawson; his grandchildren, Sherri (Chris) Lykins, Chavis (Kari) Colwell and Kayla (Mike) Wilson; his great-grandchildren, Deven, Brendan, Bryson, Katelyn and Kaylix; his great great-grandchildren, Callie, Avi, Zade and Emery; his siblings, Rosalie (the late Theral) Shepard and Bill (Nancy) Colwell; and many nieces and nephews. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Ruth E. Colwell; and his eight siblings.

Visitation will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, 45013 on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery.
