Herbert Jacobs

Herbert W. "Jake" Jacobs, age 62 of Fairfield passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. He was born in Cincinnati on September 21, 1948 the son of Herbert F. and Norma L. (Palmer) Jacobs. Herb was a 1966 graduate of William Henry Harrison High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970, serving honorably in Vietnam. He was a longtime employee of Cincinnati Bell from 1970 to 2000. Herb was a member and past president of the Butler-Warren-Clinton branch of the AFL-CIO. He loved fishing, hunting, tinkering with his truck, and going to movies. He is survived by a daughter, Jeanna Jacobs; a son, Gregory W. Jacobs; his mother, Norma L. Jacobs; a sister, Clara Mae (the late Robert) Settles; a brother, Charles F. Jacobs; a longtime friend, Larry "Dink" Dalton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Road, Suite #100, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
