Herbert L. Johns

Herbert L. Johns, age 92 of Hamilton passed away in Glen Meadows on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 8:35PM. He was born in Darrtown on October 27, 1916, the son of Julius and Mary Louise (Klosterman) Johns. Herbert was a veteran of WWII with the United States Army from l942 to 1945, was employed as a laborer for Pease Woodwork Company for fifteen years retiring in 1982 and was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church. On February 24, 1944 in Hamilton, he was married to Kathryn Netherton and she preceded him in death in 2003.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Johnny Johns in 1968; one brother, George Johns and six sisters; Margaret Stephan, Gertrude Haggard, Dorothy Johns, Julia Huffman, Irma Staarmann and Mary Madlene Johns.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton Street, on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 8:00 AM with Father Mike Pucke, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church.
