Howard E. "Ed" Hall

Howard E. "Ed" Hall, age 83 of Hamilton passed away in Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 10:50 PM. He was born in Hamilton on October 18, 1923 the son of Barney and Eva (Ramsey) Hall. Ed was a 1941 graduate of Hamilton High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, with a degree in chemical engineering. He was a veteran of World War II with the United States Army, serving in England from 1943 to 1946, receiving the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, and World War II Victory Medal. He was employed in technical services and quality control for Champion International for thirty-five years, retiring in 1986. After his retirement, he enjoyed many years of travel, his favorite destination was Hawaii. On April 5, 1951 in Hamilton, he was married to Frances Brandner.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Fran Hall of Hamilton; four daughters, Pam (Randy) Pewitt of Waxahachie, Texas, Janet Henz of Hamilton, Marcia (Dan) Erdman of Cincinnati, and Anita (Anthony) Pitcher of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Lisa (Joe) Smith, Ronny (Jennifer) Pewitt, Laura Erdman, Emily (John) Enderle, Tricia Pewitt, and Katie (fiancé Ryan Maichrye) Erdman; three great-grandchildren, Gracie and Caleb Smith, Luke Enderle, and baby boy Pewitt, soon to be born; a sister, Dorothy Hartleb of Hamilton; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Paula Brander SND of Cincinnati and Gertrude Brandner of Salem, Oregon; and many beloved nieces and nephews, friends, and family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A prayer service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Jeff Bacon, pastor of Queen of Peace Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
