Ina M. Fields

March 9, 1944 — August 27, 2017

Ina M. Fields, age 73, of Fairfield, OH, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, August 27, 2017 after an extended illness. She was born March 9, 1944 in Herrington, KS, daughter of the late John N. and Ina M. (Ramsey) Simensen. As a child, Ina moved around quite a bit and made friends in many of the cities in which she lived. It was in Warrington, VA where she met her husband Chester in 1968. Soon after developing a relationship, Chester and Ina moved to his home state of Ohio. They were married in their home in Hamilton, OH on May 16, 1971. After Ina and Chester were married, they purchased their beloved historical farmhouse in Fairfield, OH in 1975, where they began their family. Ina used that historical home to her advantage when she decided to start a Halloween display that would bring in hundreds of Trick –or –Treaters a year. It became so large that she was featured in the local newspaper on multiple occasions. For over 13 years, Ina brought joy and a little fear to the children and adults in the surrounding neighborhoods. She was the Queen of Halloween. Ina loved children and as a profession she was a childcare provider. She cared for well over a hundred children during her career that spanned more than 30 years. Ina maintained relationships with many of the children that were once in her care, watching them grow and thrive brought her so much joy and pride. Ina loved to dance. If music was playing, she was gettin’ down to it. She loved Elvis and was an avid collector of his memorabilia, enjoyed antiquing with her husband and learning the history of Fairfield and her home. She was feisty and protective of all those she loved. She was adored by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Chester W. Fields, daughters Heather R. Fields and Holly A. Vance, grandchildren Harley R. Humphrey, Timothy A. Humphrey III, Riley S. Humphrey and Braden C. Humphrey, great-grandson Jarred W. Fanning Jr., siblings Judy Hagman (Kurt), John N. Simensen (Betty), Charles K. Simensen (Cathy), Jack D. Simensen (Mary), James T. Simensen (Judy) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special mention to Michael R. Fannin, Adam M. Heiser, Erik Tomchek and the many others who helped the family during this difficult time. She is preceded in death by her parents, John N. Simensen and Ina M. Simensen and her son-in-law, James M. Vance.

In lieu of a conventional funeral, Ina requested that a memorial party be thrown in her honor. The date for the party will be announced at a later time. In Ina’s honor, donations can be made in her name to Westwood Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, OH.
