Iona Turner

March 21, 1917 — March 12, 2008

Iona Turner, age 90 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. She was born in Hamilton on March 21, 1917 the daughter of Harlan and Maggie (Reed) Miller. Iona was educated in the Hamilton City Schools. She was employed at Champion Paper for many years, the Anthony Wayne Hotel, and retired from Richardson Taylor Globe. Iona was a member of Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Earl L. Turner of Hamilton; one son, David (Jean) Turner of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Linda (Mike) Sapp, Lora (Greg) Gentry, Dennis (Ada) Turner, Kenny (Pam) Turner, and Paula Elfrink; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie (Stanton) Clark of Columbus; a special niece, Karen Clark of Columbus; and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Marie Richardson; a grandson, Doug Richardson; and a great-grandson, Austin Turner.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Randy Sapp of Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Memorial contributions may be directed to Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene.

Granny, the best friend anyone could ever have, never met a stranger. She was one of a kind. She will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. We love you, Mom and Granny.
