Irma Ruth Smith

Irma R. Smith, age 86 of Hamilton, passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Irma was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 12, 1931 to John Edward Lyons and Genevieve Getz Lyons. She attended St. Joseph Elementary and then graduated from Hamilton High School in 1949. Irma worked several years for the Butler County Treasurer. Irma married John N. Smith Jr. January 28, 1956 at St. Joseph Church. In 1963 she joined her husband as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for J& J Tire Dist. Inc. Irma was a kind, loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the world together, Cincinnati Reds Baseball, the fellowship and community of their church and gatherings with her entire extended family.

Irma is survived by her husband of 62 years, John N. Smith Jr.; daughters Victoria (Stephen) Haker of Monroe & Teresa (Kevin) DeBrosse of Middletown; grandchildren Nicholas DeBrosse, Allison (Adam) Hudak & Brian DeBrosse; great grandchildren Ian DeBrosse, Emma Honchul, Logan Hudak & Ethan Croft-Dooley; sisters Lois (James) Pohlman & Nancy McFarland; sister-in-law Lorena Lyons & brother-in-law Cecil (Bud) Greenup & many nieces and nephews. Irma was preceded in death by her parents John Edward & Genevieve Lyons; brothers Donald, James, Jacques & Robert Lyons; sisters Marian Enderle, Jane Mann & Melba Burns. Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Washington St., Hamilton, OH 45011, on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery.
