Jack N. Crank, age 79 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 5:00 AM. He was born in Hamilton on July 12, 1928. Jack spent a number of years working for Sealtest and Meadow Gold Dairy, and for 35 years was employed as a warehouse worker at Kroger, retiring in 1987. He was a former member of the Liberty Home German Dance Group and an honorary member of the Hamilton Boat Club. Jack spent many years coaching little league baseball in East Hamilton and North End Babe Ruth. He coached the St. Lawrence, Indiana CYO basketball team to a state championship in 1954. Jack enjoyed boating and spent many years on his houseboat at Lake Cumberland. He was known for his wit and humor, and was always quick with a joke for his many friends and relatives. In 1946 in Hamilton, he married Rosemary Fuersich, and she preceded him in death in 1979; in 1987 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee he married Ilene Shively; with whom he enjoyed time together boating, traveling, and simply enjoying life.

He is survived by his wife, Ilene Crank of Hamilton; six children, Danny (Margie) Crank, Steve (Joette) Crank, Dave (Charlene) Crank, Tim (Diana) Crank, Jackie (Fred) Tallarigo, and Anita (Bob) Jones; a sister, Juanita (Leonard) Milinski; two stepsons, Russell (Diane Hill) and James Baker; fifteen grandchildren, Cindy (Chris) Smith, Jason (Katie) Crank, Steve and Andy Crank, Sarah, Martina, Hannah, and Lindsay Gessendorf, Lauren and Kelly Crank, Whitney Crank, Joey Tallarigo, Marissa Baker, Jessica (Josh) Hellings, and Julie Jones; nine great-grandchildren, Tricia, Rebecca, Libby, Colin, Jesslyn, Josh, Waylen, Lanie, and Payton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Helen "Pinky" (Morgan) and Daniel Brewer.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Timothy Bunch, Pastor of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
